The experience
The activity starts on the Fish Eye sea bridge, where you walk above the reef and watch the waters of Piti Bay below before entering the water. A certified lifeguard meets you at the Underwater Observatory entry point to cover safety basics and proper snorkeling technique, then checks that you're comfortable before the group moves into the reef itself. The water here ranges from 6 to 30 feet deep, shallow enough for beginners but with enough depth to explore the full seascape.
Once in the water, you swim around the observatory among butterflyfish, angelfish, hard and soft corals, and occasionally sea turtles. This single reef zone holds more than 200 fish species and 80 different coral types. A density that makes the 50-minute window feel packed with color and movement. The guide stays with the group throughout, pointing out what you're seeing and keeping everyone safe. Infants can experience the snorkeling portion by riding in a kayak with the guide or a parent, staying close to the group without entering the water themselves.
After the reef time, you return to the bridge and facilities at Fish Eye Marine Park, where shower and changing rooms with lockers let you rinse off and dry before heading back. Snorkeling gear (fins, life jacket and mask) is provided. Hotel transfer back to your accommodation is included in most options, though you can also choose to arrange your own transport and skip the transfer cost.
