A traditional Turkish hamam in Tigaki village, 10 km from Kos center, where you move through sauna and steam, receive a full-body exfoliation scrub, and finish with foam massage. The whole sequence takes around 50 minutes. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available as an add-on. Towels, loincloths and lockers are provided. Children from age 7 are welcome, and the staff speak English.

The experience

Artemis Hamam and Spa is the only traditional hamam on Kos, built on 2,000 square meters with multiple steam rooms, saunas and massage spaces. The experience follows a set sequence: you begin in the sauna, move to a shock shower, then lie on a heated marble slab for the full-body scrub that removes dead skin and tan lines, and finish with a foam massage. The whole arc takes around 50 minutes. Staff are professionally licensed masseuses and masseurs from different countries, and the facility cleans all units several times daily with eco-friendly products only.

You arrive at the reception, collect a locker key, and find fresh towels, a traditional peshtemal (loincloth) and slippers waiting in your changing room. The scrub itself is the centerpiece. The exfoliation helps you shed the dead layer of skin so your tan comes in more evenly and your skin is left soft and glowing. The foam massage that follows is the cool-down, letting your body settle after the heat and scrubbing.

Tigaki village sits on one of Kos's best beaches, so if you book hotel pickup, the driver collects you from your accommodation and returns you there when the hamam is done. If you prefer to make your own way, the hamam-only option gets you the same treatment without transport. Either way, you'll need to bring a bathing suit or swimming shorts.

The hamam is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with serious heart conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, epilepsy, fever, infectious illness, open wounds or severe respiratory conditions.
