The experience

The activity starts at Panormos Beach, a protected natural zone on Mykonos since 1994. You arrive and get fitted with a mask, fins and optional life jacket, then receive a short lesson on the area's conservation, the fish species you'll encounter and what to expect. The snorkeling itself takes about 45 minutes in the bay's sheltered left side, which stays calm and offers easy exit points if you need them at any time.

A professional guide and free divers lead the exploration, pointing out the local fish that inhabit the Aegean and the Posidonia seagrass meadows that anchor the bay. Throughout the session, the guide captures underwater photos and video using a GoPro camera. Those images are sent to you after the activity, so you leave with a record of what you saw rather than just a memory of it. Bottled water and snacks are provided during the session.

The operation runs as a family business since 2011, with instructors trained to keep the experience both safe and engaging. The guide speaks English and keeps the pace suited to all fitness levels, making this accessible whether you're a first-time snorkeler or returning to the water after years away.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What fish will I see while snorkeling at Panormos Beach?

Panormos Bay is home to various Aegean fish species that the guide will point out during your 45-minute exploration. Many of the fish you'll see are the same ones served in local tavernas, giving you a direct connection to what you're observing underwater.

How long is the actual snorkeling time in the water?

The activity runs for one hour total, with about 45 minutes spent snorkeling in the bay itself. The remaining time covers equipment fitting, the safety and conservation lesson, and getting you settled before entering the water.

Will I get my GoPro photos on the day of the activity?

The underwater photos and video taken during your session are sent to you after the activity ends, not on the day itself. You'll receive them by email so you can download and share them.

Is Panormos Beach protected or open to the public?

Panormos Beach has been designated a protected natural beauty zone since 1994, which is why the snorkeling there focuses on learning about conservation and the local ecosystem alongside the fish and seagrass meadows you'll encounter.

What happens if I'm not a strong swimmer?

A life jacket is available if you want one, and the guide will fit you with all equipment before the lesson. The snorkeling stays in the sheltered left side of the bay with easy exit points, so you can leave the water at any time if you need to.
