The experience
The boat leaves Adamas and sails past the brightly colored fishing villages of Skinopi, Klima, Areti and Fourkovouni before reaching Sarakiniko, where white volcanic rocks rise from the water in a landscape that looks lunar from the sea. You'll see Glaronisia's hexagonal lava columns (a rare geological formation shaped by volcanic activity), then move into open water for snorkeling at Polyegos, an uninhabited island with vibrant bays and clear water. The route also passes the abandoned sulfur mines at Thiorichia, their dramatic cliffs visible right from the deck.
Kleftiko is the centerpiece: a cluster of rock formations rising from the sea where you snorkel through hidden passages and caves in crystal-clear water. The boat also stops at Gerakas Beach, accessible only by water, where white sand slides frame turquoise shallows, and at Kalogria Beach for a calm swim. You'll cruise past the Sykia Cave and its collapsed roof, and past Cape Vani's dramatic cliffs and abandoned manganese mines. A live English-speaking guide narrates the history and geology as you move between stops.
Lunch is a Greek menu served on board. The open bar runs throughout the day with beer, white and red wine, soft drinks and mineral water. Snorkeling equipment is provided. The full day lasts approximately 9.5 hours. Because weather and sea conditions can shift, the skipper may adjust the route to keep the group safe and comfortable. The itinerary is indicative, not fixed.
