The experience

You arrive at the Marathi base (about twenty minutes from Chania city) and board one of four boats: the Skipper 95, Luxury Saxdor 320, Marvel 930, or Skipper 680. Each carries a different group size and comfort level, and you pick which one suits your party at checkout. The skipper is yours alone for the full four hours, which means no schedule pressure and no waiting for other groups to finish a swim. He knows the northeast coast well enough to steer past the packed beaches and anchor where the water stays clear and the seabed is worth seeing.

Snorkeling equipment is included, so you arrive with nothing but a towel and sunscreen. The boat carries bottled water, soft drinks and beer throughout the day: no need to pack your own. The route itself is not fixed: the skipper reads the conditions and the light and takes you to whichever beaches and coves will give you the best visibility and the fewest people. Seitan Limania is the named stop, but the real point is the freedom to linger where the snorkeling is good and move on when it is not.

Morning departures run 10:00 to 14:00. Afternoon trips leave at 16:00 and return by 20:00. Either slot works if you have landed at Chania airport and want to use the afternoon, or if you are staying nearby and want to avoid the midday heat on the water.

Can I snorkel the whole four hours or do we spend time on the boat?

The skipper anchors at the best snorkeling spots and you spend as much time in the water as you want at each one. How long you stay at each beach is up to you. There is no fixed schedule pulling you back to the boat.

Seitan Limania is a small cove on the northeast coast known for clear water and a sandy seabed. The skipper takes you there as one of the stops, but the route adapts to conditions, so you may visit other nearby beaches and coves as well depending on visibility and where the water is calmest.

Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?

No. Snorkeling equipment is included with the boat. You bring a towel, sunscreen and a change of clothes. Everything else for the water is on board.
