The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a transfer to Vlychada Marina, where you board the catamaran. The boat sails past the pumice beach near the marina and makes a photo stop at Red Beach, then continues toward White Beach and the black rock formation called Indian's Face. The route takes you across the Aegean toward the sulfur-rich hot springs and the underwater craters between the volcanic islands of Nea Kameni and Palia Kameni—this is where the captain stops for the first snorkeling session in water warmed by geothermal activity.

After snorkeling, the catamaran sails to Thirasia and back toward the caldera, where it anchors for the main event. You have time to snorkel again in the clear water, sip a drink from the open bar (local white wine, beer, Prosecco or other beverages), and then settle in for the Mediterranean buffet. The meal includes shrimp, mussels, grilled meat cooked on board, tzatziki, Greek salad, pasta with Mediterranean sauce, fresh fruit and handmade dessert. The return journey gives you time to photograph Red Beach and the volcanic landscape as the light changes, then your driver meets you back at Vlychada for the transfer home.
