The Experience
Our guide Nikos was waiting on the beach at Stegna with the boards already laid out, and he spent the first few minutes asking who'd paddled before and who hadn't — no judgment either way. That mattered because the group was small, just twelve of us, and he adjusted the pace so beginners didn't feel rushed and people who'd done this before didn't get bored. We got a quick lesson on balance and technique right there on the sand, then pushed into water so clear you could see the bottom ten meters out.
The paddle along Rhodes' east coast took us past rock formations that rose straight up from the water, and Nikos pointed out the spots where the sea cave opened up — a narrow entrance that got wider inside, with light filtering through cracks in the roof. We paddled in slowly, and the sound changed completely, echoing off the stone. After that came the snorkeling stops in the quieter bays, where the water stayed calm and you could actually see what was down there instead of fighting current. The support boat stayed close but far enough back that it didn't feel like we were being watched; it was there if someone needed help, and that was it.
Midway through, we pulled up at a peaceful spot along the coast and Nikos broke out local snacks and fresh fruit — nothing fancy, just the kind of thing that tastes better when you're tired and hungry and sitting on the water. A few people in the group decided to try the optional cliff jumping from a lower rock formation nearby; others stayed on the boards or swam. The whole thing took about four hours from start to finish, and we got back to Stegna with GoPro footage of the day that the guides had been shooting the whole time.
If you're staying in a hotel across Rhodes, pickup starts an hour before the activity begins — you'll get an email the day before with your exact time. Otherwise, just meet at Stegna and explore the village before or after. The gear is all included: SUP board, snorkel kit, wetsuit if it's the season for it, and the guides know how to scale the experience so you're not fighting to stay upright the whole time.
What’s included
Your day includes SUP board and snorkel gear, a shorty wetsuit during cooler months, a safety lesson on the beach, paddling and snorkeling along the east coast with stops at a sea cave and quiet bays, local snacks and fresh fruit at a midway break, GoPro photos of your trip, an experienced guide and support boat throughout, and hotel pickup and drop-off if you select that option instead of meeting at Stegna.
