The experience

Seven hours gives you room to move through Rhodes without rushing. The tour starts from your ship or hotel and heads first to the Medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where cars no longer enter the narrow streets: your driver shows you the gates and main landmarks from outside, then you can walk the alleys on your own if you want, with a flat five-minute walk back to the port. From there you drive to Mandraki Old Harbor, where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and stop at the Church of the Annunciation with its medieval Catholic design and Orthodox chandeliers.

The route then climbs to Monte Smith Hill (Acropolis of Rhodes Town) for a 360-degree panoramic view of the city and both coasts where the Mediterranean and Aegean meet. You see the Temple of Apollo and Ancient Stadium from a distance, then head east toward Lindos, passing Tsambika Beach and stopping at a vantage point to photograph Lindos Beach and the white village with its acropolis rising behind it. At Lindos itself, you have about an hour to spend: walk the village alleys and climb the many cobblestone steps to the Acropolis if you want the full view, or stay in the village and let your driver show you the acropolis from below. Both are valid ways through. Lindos Acropolis requires a timed e-ticket (20 euros per person, optional). You can buy it online in advance, a few hours before, or once you arrive in the village. South of Lindos, St. Paul's Bay marks where the apostle is said to have landed in 51 AD, and you can also spot the cave used in the film "The Guns of Navarone" from the same viewpoint.

A lunch break happens at Haraki seaside village on the Mediterranean, where you choose and pay for your own meal: fresh seafood and Greek cuisine with local wines. On the return, you can stop at a pottery workshop to watch traditional Rhodian pottery being made on the wheel and learn about the Pythagorean cup (optional). The final stop is Mount Filerimos, the ancient Acropolis of Ialyssos, where you get a panoramic view of the west coast from the car. The Monastery and Church of Our Lady of Filerimos are optional (6 euros entry), as is climbing the 16-meter concrete cross in the square. The drive back goes through Ixia and returns you to the Old Town or your ship, with a ten-minute flat walk from the cruise port if needed.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

Can I skip climbing up to Lindos Acropolis and still see it?

Yes. You can walk the white village of Lindos and view the Acropolis from vantage points where your driver shows you the site from a distance and you get photos without the climb. This saves time and lets you explore the village more fully.

What is the Lindos Acropolis e-ticket system and when do I need to buy?

Lindos Acropolis uses timed entry slots. You typically reach Lindos village about 2.5 hours into the tour, then have a 15-minute walk up to the acropolis. You can buy tickets online in advance, a few hours before your visit, or in the village before you climb. Tickets are non-refundable.

How does the Medieval Old Town work if cars cannot enter?

Your driver shows you the important gates and landmarks from outside the Old Town. You can then walk the alleys on your own if you wish. It is a flat five-minute walk back to the cruise port afterward.

What happens at Haraki seaside village for lunch?

You stop at Haraki on the Mediterranean coast and choose your own meal from fresh seafood and Greek cuisine restaurants with local wines. You pay for food and drinks yourself at this break.

Are the pottery workshop and Mount Filerimos included?

The pottery workshop is an optional stop on the way back from Lindos where you watch traditional pottery being made. Mount Filerimos is also included in the route for its panoramic west coast view, but entry to the Monastery and Church of Our Lady of Filerimos costs 6 euros per person and is optional. Climbing the concrete cross is free.
