Private Sailing Cruise Thasos: 5 Hours with Swimming & Snorkeling
Dolphins swim in the same waters where you anchor to snorkel beneath limestone cliffs.
A private sailing cruise departing from Limenas in Thasos takes you along the island's eastern coast to Makryammos Beach and Vathi Beach, with time to swim and snorkel in crystal-clear water. The boat carries snorkeling equipment and a SUP board. Your skipper prepares coffee and appetizers on board and can point out the cave of Hermit and Saint John bay along the way. The five-hour route covers marble beaches and turquoise bays where freshwater springs mix with the sea.

The experience
The cruise leaves from Limenas port and heads first to Makryammos Beach, where you swim while the skipper prepares coffee and an appetizer. On the approach, you pass the cave of Hermit and Saint John bay. Both spots where dolphins have been sighted in their natural habitat. The boat then sails the full eastern coast, passing Marble Beach and Porto Vathy, a white-sand cove ringed by green olives where the water shifts from turquoise to deep blue.
Vathi Beach is the anchor point for the main swim. The water there is exceptionally clear, and freshwater springs mix with seawater at the base of imposing rock formations. Snorkeling equipment is on board, and a SUP board is available if you want to paddle instead. The skipper is qualified to European standards and speaks English, Russian, Greek, Romanian or one additional language, so navigation and safety briefings are clear.
The return journey retraces the route toward Limenas. If the wind is strong enough, you'll sail the way back. Otherwise the motor takes over. Infants can sit on an adult's lap or use a specialized seat. The boat accommodates all fitness levels, and service animals are welcome on board.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Russian, Greek, Romanian and Serbian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What beaches do we actually stop at on this cruise?
Makryammos Beach is the first stop, where you swim and the skipper prepares refreshments. Vathi Beach is the main swimming and snorkeling anchorage, and you pass Marble Beach and Porto Vathy en route without stopping there.
Can I bring my own snorkeling gear or do I have to use what's on the boat?
Snorkeling equipment is provided on board and included in the cruise price. You're welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Is the skipper a guide who explains things, or just the person operating the boat?
The skipper operates the boat and is qualified to European navigation standards. They prepare food and beverages on board and can point out landmarks like the cave of Hermit and Saint John bay, though this is a private cruise focused on swimming and sailing rather than a guided tour with commentary.
What happens if the wind isn't strong enough to sail back to Limenas?
The boat has a motor, so the return journey is guaranteed regardless of wind conditions. If the wind is good, you'll sail. Otherwise the motor will be used to get you back on schedule.
Are meals included, or do I need to bring my own food?
Coffee and an appetizer are prepared on board by the skipper. You can order a sandwich with wine or a full Greek menu with salad and beer or wine for an additional charge.
