The experience
The tour starts with a one-hour walk through Mykonos Town, moving through Little Venice, past the windmills and Paraportiani church, and down the whitewashed alleys lined with shops that lead to the harbor front. From there the route heads to Kalafatis Beach, the longest on the island, where you have time to photograph the sand and water or simply stand at the shore. A second beach stop follows (one with the clearest view toward Delos, the sacred island visible across the water) before the route climbs to Armenistis Lighthouse, a 145-year-old structure sitting on a panoramic point above the Aegean.
The lighthouse stop includes a five-minute walk to reach it, and the operator builds in time for photographs of the surrounding islands: Delos, Syros and Tinos all appear from that vantage. The tour also passes through a small traditional village with a central square and taverns, and stops at a 400-year-old monastery, Panagia Tourliani. Your guide provides live commentary throughout, and the minivan is air-conditioned. Cruise ship passengers can arrange pickup and drop-off locally at booking. The operator will need your ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time.
