Taste olive oil and honey straight from the source, then eat breakfast built around them.

A hands-on morning at a working Naxos estate where you walk through olive groves, visit active beehives with the beekeeper, and learn how olive oil and honey are made using traditional methods. You taste both products at the old farmhouse, then sit down to a seasonal farm-to-table breakfast prepared from the estate's own produce and ingredients from small local producers.

The experience

What makes this morning different is that you're not watching from a distance. You walk into the olive groves yourself, among trees the estate has cultivated for centuries, and learn the varieties growing there and how they're farmed organically. Then you put on protective gear and go into the apiary with Manolis, the estate's co-owner and beekeeper, to see the hives at work and understand why bees matter to the land, not just for honey, but for the health of the vineyards and olive trees around you.

The tasting happens in the old farmhouse, where you taste the estate's extra virgin olive oil and honey side by side. After that comes breakfast, set on the mountainside: bread, eggs, seasonal produce, all sourced from the estate or from small producers nearby. The meal is built around what grows here and what the season offers, not a fixed menu that arrives the same way every morning.

You can choose between a 9am start or an 11am one, depending on how your day is shaped. Either way, the whole experience runs about two hours.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Greek.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 13 years); Infant (under 4): free.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What do you actually do when you visit the beehives?

You wear protective equipment and walk into the apiary with Manolis, the beekeeper and co-owner. You observe the hives at work and learn how bees support the health of the olive trees and vineyards on the estate, as well as their role in biodiversity and crop sustainability.

Is the olive oil tasting just a small sample, or do you get a real sense of the flavors?

The tasting is a guided experience at the old farmhouse where you taste the estate's extra virgin olive oil and honey together, learning how they're made and how they fit into the Cycladic diet. It's paired with the farm-to-table breakfast that follows, so you're tasting them as part of a meal, not in isolation.

What's included in the farm-to-table breakfast?

Breakfast features the estate's own produce and ingredients from small local producers: bread, olive oil, honey, eggs, and other seasonal items. The menu changes with the season, so what you eat depends on what's ready to harvest when you visit.

Do I need to be in good shape to do this, or is it relaxed?

The experience is suitable for all physical fitness levels. It's a walk through the groves and a visit to the apiary, not a hike, and the rest of the morning is spent tasting and eating at the farmhouse. The estate does note it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
