The experience

You arrive at Liotrivi Historic Mansion in the Monemvasia area, known for its olive groves and vineyards. An expert guide takes you through the olive oil museum first, where you taste four different varieties of extra virgin olive oil and three varieties of table olives, all produced on the estate. The guide explains the cultivation, harvesting and cold-press production process as you taste: the aromas and colors change between each one. Then you move to the cellar to taste five local wines from the mansion's collection and learn how the estate makes them using traditional methods.

After the tastings, you sit in the garden and eat a five-course meal of traditional Greek cuisine. Every dish is cooked with fresh herbs and the estate's own extra virgin olive oil. The menu includes Greek salad and traditional dolmas or spinach pie, then a main of chicken in red sauce with local pasta or veal, and finishes with a choice of pecan pie or orange pie. A glass of wine from the cellar comes with your meal. The mansion sells its own wines, olive oils and home-made products if you want to take something home.

An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel and brings you back: no need to arrange your own transport. The group stays small, capped at eight people, so the tastings and the meal stay intimate.
