Taste what Monemvasia has tasted for centuries

A 45-minute tasting in Monemvasia where you sample three local wines (including the medieval Malvasia), three extra virgin olive oils from the Athinoelia variety, three honeys by flower type, and the Hydromeli. The experience

You start with a glass of Hydromeli, the honey mead that makes this tasting different from any other in the region. It's a fermented liqueur made from bee honey and water, revived from a forgotten local recipe and produced exclusively in Greece by the Sotirali Family in Neapolis. From there you move through three Monemvasia wines: Kydonitsa, Monemvasios, and a red regional variety. The Monemvasios itself carries the weight of history: the original medieval Malvasia recipe, famous and coveted during the Middle Ages, was lost for centuries and only recently rediscovered and revived by Monemvasia Winery.

The olive oil tasting follows with three varieties: Athinoelia (the local olive), Koroneiki, and either Megaritiki or Patrinia depending on the harvest. The Benios extra virgin oil, made from Athinoelia olives, is their own production. Then you taste three honeys, each defined by the flowers the bees worked: thyme, orange tree, and pine tree or heather depending on the season. After the tasting ends, you get to try their local cosmetics line on your skin and receive a 5% discount on anything you've sampled.
