A five-hour quad safari near Malia takes you off-road through olive groves and vineyards, past a working olive oil factory, and up to the Cave of Milatos for a hike through one of Crete's most historical sites. The experience

You start with instruction on the quad bike before the group sets out: the guides teach beginners everything they need to know so everyone rides safely. From there, the route climbs uphill through olive groves to the Chapel of the Prophet Elias, where you stop for the first panoramic view. The terrain shifts between vineyards and forest as you descend on dirt roads, and a stop at a local olive oil factory lets you watch how the oil is extracted and taste it straight from the source.

The Cave of Milatos is the centerpiece: you ride to the trailhead, then hike the ancient path up to the cave entrance, where the mountains open up and the flora and fauna shift noticeably. There's time to collect local herbs and photograph the views before the group heads back down. After that comes a seaside stretch, a slower-paced ride through the narrow streets of Milatos and Sissi, two fishing villages that sit right on the water, followed by another dynamic off-road section where the quads can move faster again.

Lunch happens in Malia after the riding ends, and then the guide brings you back to your hotel. The whole day runs five hours. You'll need closed shoes, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Bring your driver's license and ID card in physical form. The operator reserves the right to change the route or stops if weather or safety conditions demand it.
