I didn’t expect the wood of the boat to feel so warm under my feet. Our guide, Kostas, pointed out little things I’d have missed: fishermen waving from their tiny boats, a line of cypress trees along Faliro. Someone behind me laughed about jumping in before dinner—I was secretly nervous about the water temperature.

The first swim stop was near Ydroussa Island. The sea smelled clean and salty, not like the city at all. I hesitated on the ladder but ended up just letting go—cold shock for a second, then that weird floating silence you only get away from traffic and phones. There were noodles and snorkel masks if you wanted them. Some kids tried to spot fish; I mostly floated and watched clouds drift over Vouliagmeni. Back on deck, towels everywhere, hair dripping onto wooden benches.
