The experience
Assos is the anchor of this tour: the most picturesque village on the island, built around a harbor with views across to the mainland. But the day doesn't start there. You begin with a drive across Pylaros Valley to reach Myrtos Beach on the west side, where the water is turquoise and the cliffs rise sharp above the sand. You get an hour and forty minutes to swim, wade or sit on the beach before the group moves on.
Fiscardo comes next, and it's the only village on Kefalonia that survived the 1953 earthquake intact. The streets hold boutique shops, and the waterfront is lined with taverns serving fresh seafood, traditional local dishes and continental food. You have two hours here: enough to browse, eat a leisurely lunch if you want, or simply sit with a drink and watch the boats. The guide doesn't dictate how you spend the time.
Assos fills the final stop before the drive back. An hour there lets you walk the harbor side, take in the views, and grab a coffee or ice cream. Pickups start at 8:45 from the Electra Hotel and continue through Lassi, Argostoli, Sami, Karavomilos and Agia Efimia, with drop-offs in the same sequence in the late afternoon and evening. The full day runs nine hours from first pickup to last drop-off.
