Taste five wines, then eat Moroccan food in a hidden stone cistern most tourists walk past.

An evening wine tasting and Moroccan dinner in Gibraltar that moves beyond the Rock and the main street into the city's wine culture and Moorish heritage. Five wines are explained by a guide, then you sit down to a three-course meal (tagines, mezze, warm bread, Moroccan mint tea and dessert) in a centuries-old stone cistern. Everything is pre-arranged and fully inclusive. No bill arrives at the end of the night. The experience runs three hours and is available in English or Spanish for guests 18 and older.

The experience

Your evening starts with a guided tasting of five carefully selected wines. Your host walks you through each pour: the region, the grape, the story behind the bottle. This is not a pour-and-move-on affair. Each wine gets explained, and you move at a pace that lets the details land. From there you walk into a centuries-old stone cistern, a space most visitors to Gibraltar pass by without noticing, and sit down to a three-course Moroccan feast.

The meal unfolds in courses: first, a selection of salads and dips (spicy carrot salad, zaalouk, beetroot hummus, turmeric hummus, tzatziki) with warm pita bread. Then a main of chicken couscous (or vegetarian couscous if you prefer) with caramelised onions, sultanas and roasted almonds. The evening closes with a Moroccan dessert platter: Moroccan mint tea, dulces and stuffed dates. A free drink per person at the restaurant is included, so there is no bill to settle when the night ends.

The whole thing is built around the idea that a Gibraltar evening does not have to be the Rock and the main street. You get a guide who speaks English or Spanish, a setting that feels genuinely historic, and the kind of pacing that lets you actually taste the wine and sit with the food instead of rushing through it.
