The experience
You pick up the eBike at the EBike Experience Store in Ocean Village, a one-minute walk from the Market Place Bus Terminal and fifteen minutes from either the cruise ship terminal or the Spanish border. The bike is a Riese&Müller Nevo with pedal assist, no throttle, so you control the power by pedaling. The motor helps on steep sections rather than doing the work for you. A handlebar phone mount lets you follow the Smartguide App route, which marks attractions around town and in the Nature Reserve with visitor information at each stop. You also get a helmet, security lock and back rack to carry a bag.
The defining move is the climb to the top of the Rock itself. Taxis and tour buses cannot go there. Only walkers and bikes can reach it. On foot it is a serious hike. On the eBike, the pedal assist makes the steep gradients manageable, and you get an exhilarating descent back into town with the freedom to stop whenever something catches your eye. The route also takes you through the Nature Reserve to see the Barbary macaques, the only free-roaming monkeys in Europe, and past Gibraltar's main attractions. You choose which stops to visit and how long to linger. There is no fixed schedule or group pace.
The whole outing runs roughly four hours, though you control the length by choosing how many stops you make and how far you ride. You need moderate fitness and confidence cycling in traffic with occasional steep sections. The difficulty rating is three out of five. Minimum age is twelve, though infants aged zero to five can ride in a specialized eCargo bike at no extra charge. The rental starts and ends at Ocean Village, so you return the eBike to the same place you picked it up.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Infant (under 6): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I use the eBike if I've never ridden one before?
The eBike requires moderate fitness and confidence cycling on roads with traffic and steep gradients. You should be a competent bicycle rider. The pedal assist helps on climbs but you still control the bike by pedaling. If you are new to cycling or uncomfortable in traffic, this tour may not suit you.
What happens if I want to spend more time at one attraction and skip another?
The Smartguide App route suggests stops, but you choose which ones to visit and how long to stay at each. You set your own pace and can ride past attractions or spend an hour at one if you prefer. The roughly four-hour estimate assumes a moderate pace with several stops.
Is the climb to the top of the Rock very steep on the eBike?
The pedal assist makes the climb manageable compared to hiking, but the Nature Reserve has steep inclines and declines. You pedal to control the motor. The assist reduces the effort but does not eliminate it. The descent back into town is exhilarating and you can brake whenever you need to.
Where do I pick up and return the eBike?
The EBike Experience Store is at Ocean Village. It is a one-minute walk from the Market Place Bus Terminal, five minutes from Midtown coach park, and fifteen minutes on foot from the cruise ship terminal or the Spanish border. You pick up and return the bike at the same location.
Do I need to pay anything extra beyond the rental?
The Nature Reserve entrance fee is payable on entry at Jews Gate or online at naturereserve.gi. Everything else (the eBike, helmet, lock, phone mount, route guidance and access to the attractions) is included in the rental price.
What is a pedal-assist eBike and how does it work?
A pedal-assist eBike has a motor that activates when you pedal, making climbs easier. It does not have a throttle like a motorbike. You control the power by pedaling. On steep sections the motor helps, but you are always pedaling to move the bike.
