Summary

See Gibraltar’s wild monkeys, glass skywalks & ancient tunnels in a single pass

You’ll ride Gibraltar’s famous cable car up the Rock for sweeping views, walk across a glass skywalk if you dare, explore ancient caves and military tunnels with stories from local guides, and meet cheeky Barbary macaques at Apes Den—all with just one city pass that includes transport and discounts along the way.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I was already halfway up the Rock of Gibraltar before I realized how much ground this city pass actually covered. The cable car ride only took six minutes, but my ears popped and my stomach did that weird little flip as we climbed above the harbor — you could see Morocco on a clear day (ours was a bit hazy, but still). At the top station, our guide Ana pointed out the glass Skywalk. Honestly, I hesitated. Standing on that platform with nothing but glass under my shoes and wind in my face… well, let’s just say I held onto the railing tighter than I meant to.

We wandered from there straight into St. Michael’s Cave — cool air and that damp mineral smell hit me right away. The Awakening light show inside made the stalactites look almost alive; I caught myself reaching out to touch one before remembering you’re not supposed to. Ana told us about the layers of history hidden in these rocks — Romans, Moors, British soldiers — and then we ducked into those old WWII tunnels. It’s easy to lose your sense of direction down there; I kept thinking about what it must’ve felt like during an air raid. The audio guide was good company when we split up for a bit (I got distracted by an old cannon display).

The highlight? That had to be Apes Den. The Barbary macaques are everywhere — one nearly stole a snack out of my bag while another just sat beside me like we were old friends. A local guy named Luis laughed and said they know exactly who’s new around here. We ended up at the Alameda Botanic Gardens later, feet sore but happy, watching kids chase pigeons near the little zoo. If you want everything in Gibraltar without juggling tickets or schedules, this pass really does make it easy… though nobody warns you how tired your legs will feel after all those hills.
