The experience
The tour starts at Cologne Cathedral, one of the world's three tallest, and stays outside unless you decide to climb the 533 steps for the view. From there you walk to Hohenzollern Bridge to see the love locks, then through the biggest shopping area and into the Altstadt, where Romanesque churches line the streets and the historic town hall stands at the center. The guide points out what locals actually care about: the culinary spots, the neighborhoods where people live, the stories that don't make the guidebook.
The last stop is the Farina Fragrance Museum, where Eau de Cologne was invented and still made. It's a working manufactory, not a museum behind velvet ropes, so you see how the original formula comes together. The whole route is walkable for all fitness levels, and the timing flexes around what you want to linger on. If you'd rather skip the shopping district or spend longer in the old town, the guide adjusts.
Your guide speaks English, Spanish, French, Turkish, Portuguese, Chinese or German. Book in the language you need. If you want to go inside the Cathedral, admission is €12 for adults, €6 for teens 14 and up, and free for children under 13. Let the operator know in advance and you can pay in cash or via PayPal during the tour.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese and Turkish.
What is the Hohenzollern Bridge and why do people leave locks there?
Hohenzollern Bridge is an iron railway bridge crossing the Rhine, and it's covered in thousands of love locks: padlocks couples attach as a symbol of their relationship. The tour stops there to see them and hear the stories behind the tradition.
Can I go inside Cologne Cathedral on this tour?
Cathedral entry is optional and not included in the tour price. If you want to visit inside, tell the operator before the tour starts, and you can pay admission (€12 adults, €6 teens 14+, free under 13) in cash or PayPal during the walk.
What exactly is the Farina Fragrance Museum?
Farina is the original Eau de Cologne manufactory, where the fragrance was invented and is still made by hand. You see the working workshop, not just displays, so you understand how the scent comes together.
Is this tour only walking, or do we use public transport?
The tour is walking-based and covers the highlights on foot. Public transportation options are available nearby if you need them, and the route is wheelchair accessible.
Can I change the itinerary or the pace during the tour?
Yes. The tour timing and route are flexible and can shift depending on what you want to see and how long you want to spend at each stop. Let your guide know what interests you most.
