The Experience
You arrive with a free afternoon and no plan to fill it. The jet ski tour starts with a briefing on the machine and a run through the lagoon's safest routes, then you're on the water for two hours. The guide leads; you follow at whatever speed feels right. The whole point is the speed and maneuverability—a jet ski cuts through the shallows and tight channels where a boat can't go, so you reach the motus and the coral gardens in minutes instead of a slow cruise across open water.
The first stop is a walk through the bay on foot, then you're back on the ski and heading to the coral garden between the two motus. This is where you get in the water. The stingrays and blacktip sharks are there, accustomed to swimmers, and the guide stays with you while you're in. The multicolored fish are thick enough that you don't have to search for them. The mask is loaned to you, so you're ready to look down the moment you drop in. After the swim, another run through the bay rounds out the afternoon.
The guide speaks English or French and reads the group as you go—if someone's nervous, the pace stays manageable; if everyone's comfortable, the ride gets faster. The minimum age is five, though younger children would need to ride with an adult. A moderate level of fitness matters because you're holding on and moving with the machine for two hours straight, not sitting still. At the end, there's a cold drink waiting, and the photos the guide shot during the tour are yours to download free.
