The experience

How it works: you and your partner show up at your hotel, get picked up, and head to the dive boat with your own instructor. The dive itself runs about three hours from start to finish. No experience is needed. The instructor handles everything, from fitting your gear to guiding you through the dive site. You'll explore one of Bora Bora's lagoon reefs in crystal-clear water, surrounded by coral and marine life, while a professional videographer films the whole thing from above and below the surface.

The moment that makes this different happens underwater: your partner receives a genuine Tahitian black pearl at the seafloor, presented by the guide. It's captured on video, edited into a finished film, and yours to keep. The guide speaks English or French, and the boat is shared with other divers, though your instructor stays with just the two of you throughout the dive.

Bring your T-shirt and shoe sizes when you book so the operator can have the right scuba suit ready. You'll complete a health questionnaire before diving. Some medical conditions (asthma, heart issues, etc.) may prevent participation, so check with your doctor if you have concerns. Avoid diving within 24 hours of flying. Towels and light refreshments are included. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase on the boat.
