Dive Bora Bora's Reef or Lagoon on Your Own Terms
An afternoon scuba dive in Bora Bora for certified divers (PADI Open Water or equivalent) with a professional guide supervising no more than five divers per group. The dive site—lagoon or reef—depends on the day's conditions. Pickup and all equipment are included; if you're Nitrox certified, you dive Nitrox tanks at no extra cost. Your last dive must have been within the past year, and you must be at least 12 years old.
The Experience
You have a free afternoon in Bora Bora and your certification card in your pocket. This dive takes you to one of the island's established sites—either inside the lagoon or out on the reef, depending on what the conditions allow that day. A professional guide stays with your group of no more than five divers, keeping everyone oriented to the points of interest and the underwater landscape. You descend to a maximum of 18 meters (60 feet), which is the limit for Open Water certification.
The operator picks you up from your hotel and handles the transport both ways. All scuba equipment is provided—tank, regulator, BCD, weights—so you arrive with nothing but your certification and your log book. If you're Nitrox certified, you get a Nitrox tank at no charge; otherwise you dive on standard air. The whole experience runs about two hours, which includes the boat ride out, the dive itself, and the return to shore.
The one constraint that matters: your last dive has to be within the past year. If it's been longer, you'll need a refresher course before this one. The guide communicates in English or French, so make sure you're comfortable following directions in whichever language they use that day.
