The experience
Two to three hours covers the Palace of Versailles itself: a UNESCO World Heritage site that started as a hunting lodge under Louis XIII and became the royal court and seat of government when Louis XIV moved there in 1682. The audio guide device walks you through the 2,300 rooms and the architecture that successive monarchs added over the centuries. You pick from 12 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and eight others, so the narration matches your preference as you move through the halls and galleries.
Beyond the main palace, your ticket reaches the Trianon estates: the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon, built as smaller private retreats for the kings, plus the Queen's Hamlet and their gardens. The Gardens themselves stretch from the Hall of Mirrors down the Grande Perspective, a view that André Le Nôtre expanded and refined, widening the Royal Way and creating the Grand Canal. During the Musical Gardens or Musical Fountains Show, you watch the fountains from within the gardens themselves. The Park extends further, blending with the gardens through two large water features: the Grand Canal and the Lake of the Swiss Guards.
Timed entry means you arrive within a set window and move through at your own pace with the audio guide. Temporary exhibitions rotate through the palace, and priority phone or WhatsApp support is available if you have questions before or during your visit. All areas are wheelchair accessible, strollers work on the grounds, and infants can sit on a lap throughout.
