One hour suspended between the Alps and the sky, with Mont Blanc in front of you the whole way.

Tandem paragliding in Chamonix pairs you with a qualified instructor for a one-hour flight facing Mont Blanc, taking off from Planpraz or Plan de l'Aiguille depending on the season. The school, founded by two brothers, personalizes each flight to match your preference (gentle discovery or more intense), and includes safety equipment and insurance. Children from age 4 are welcome. No experience or fitness level required.

The experience

You take off by running a few steps into the air, then the paraglider catches the wind and you're flying. The takeoff is smooth and gradual, and once you're airborne the sensation shifts from adrenaline to something closer to weightlessness. Your instructor handles the technical work while you take in the Chamonix Valley spread below and Mont Blanc filling the horizon. The flight lasts around an hour, though the exact time depends on wind conditions and how the thermals are working that day.

The school offers two launch points: Planpraz (Brevent) is the standard departure, and Plan de l'Aiguille is available for an additional fee depending on the season. Both give you the same view of Mont Blanc and the surrounding massif, but the choice affects where your flight begins and how the air currents shape your route. On request, you can ask your pilot for more control of the glider or a more intense flight with sharper turns. The school adjusts the experience to what you want. If you want HD video or photos sent to your phone, that's available for an extra fee.

Bring sports shoes and a windproof jacket. Safety equipment (harness, helmet and everything else) is provided, along with insurance. The school operates in English and French, and children from age 4 can fly tandem with an instructor. Public transportation reaches both launch points, so you don't need a car to get there.

Is this one for you?The standard Planpraz departure gets you airborne quickly and costs less. Choose Plan de l'Aiguille if you want a different launch point and don't mind the extra fee. Either way, the flight is built for first-timers: no skill required, just the willingness to run a few steps and then float.
