The experience
An hour at the Walnut grove starts with a walk through 2,500 walnut trees across the 20-hectare organic orchard, guided by Cécile or Dorothée. You'll see how walnuts are cultivated and harvested, then move into the nut shelling workshop to watch the oil-making process. The tasting itself centers on their virgin nut oils, which won international medals in both 2024 and 2025. The kind of product that makes chefs and serious food lovers rethink how they cook.
The visit is built around your pace: stay as long as you want, relax under the walnut trees in the shaded seating area, or order an aperitif and snack from the garden menu. Kids have their own path through the orchard with puzzle courses, and there's a games bar with table and outdoor games for all ages at no extra cost. You'll also have free access to the farm shop, which stocks more than 20 local Charentais producers and artisans: a real window into what the region makes.
If you want to extend the afternoon, the Desrentes family farm (producing Pineau Cognac and Charentais wines) is a five-minute walk away, or the Abbey of Fontdouce, with its own activities and grounds, is a ten-minute drive. The whole site is wheelchair accessible, and strollers work fine for moving around the orchard.
