The experience
The Braastad estate sits on the banks of the Charente in Jarnac, housed in an emblematic building that has been run by the same family since 1875. What sets this house apart is that it controls production from the vine to the glass: no outsourced steps, no shortcuts. You move through the distillery and into the cellars where cognac sits in oak, learning how the aging and blending process shapes what ends up in the bottle. A cabinet of curiosities sits between the production floor and the tasting room, a small collection that anchors the house's six generations of craft.
The tasting closes the experience. You taste three cognacs (a VS, a VSOP and an XO) each one chosen to show how time in oak changes the spirit's color, aroma and flavor. The guide walks you through what you're tasting and why the categories matter. Tasting is reserved for adults. Children can join the production and cellar portions of the tour.
