Canyoning Corsica: Richiusa Canyon with jumps and slides
Jump, slide and abseil through Corsica's most famous canyon
Canyoning Corsica in the Richiusa Canyon is a 3.5-hour descent with a certified instructor through natural pools, jumps, slides and abseils up to 10 meters high. The approach walk takes an hour, the canyon descent about two hours, and you walk back out in 20 minutes. A wetsuit, helmet, harness and backpack are provided; you bring swimwear and sport shoes. Minimum age is 9 years (12 in April and May), and you must be able to swim. The activity needs at least six people to run, and you arrange your own transport to the meeting point 45 minutes from either Corte or Ajaccio.
The Experience
You arrive at the meeting point with your swimwear and sport shoes already on under your clothes. The instructor fits you into a wetsuit, helmet and harness, checks your gear, and leads the group on a one-hour approach walk into the canyon. No jump is required — every obstacle has an alternative — so the pace stays in your hands.
The descent itself runs about two hours through a succession of natural pools separated by jumps, slides, abseils and a zipline. The rappel maximum height is 10 meters. The canyon walls close in around you, the water is cold and clear, and each pool invites you to stop and breathe before the next section. The variety keeps moving: you might abseil one moment and slide into a pool the next, with the option to jump or find another way down if that is not your choice.
After the descent, a 20-minute walk brings you back out. The whole day is 3.5 hours from start to finish. You need to be a confident swimmer and in good physical shape — this is not a casual float. The group stays small, capped at the minimum of six people needed to run the activity, so the instructor can watch everyone and adjust the pace if someone needs it.

Is this one for you?Book this if you have a free afternoon and want to move through water and rock instead of watching from a path — the one-hour approach and two-hour descent fit a half-day window, and the certified instructor means you do not need prior canyoning experience, only the ability to swim and the fitness to handle a sustained physical activity.

Can I do the Richiusa Canyon canyoning if I'm not a strong swimmer?
