Snorkeling in Gulf of Calvi: Pointe de la Revellata boat trip
Ninety minutes in the water at Corsica's most popular dive site, watching wrasse and sar dart past the Revellata cliffs
A snorkeling trip in the Gulf of Calvi takes you by boat to Pointe de la Revellata, where the boat moors and you spend an hour and a half in the water with provided mask, fins and snorkel. The instructor briefs you before departure and leaves you free to explore the seabed and swim toward the cliffs for a break. The site changes only if weather demands it. Children from age 6 can join; all fitness levels are welcome.
The Experience
You arrive at the meeting point and get a briefing on how the trip will run. The boat heads out into the Gulf of Calvi toward Pointe de la Revellata, the bay's most popular snorkeling site, unless wind or swell pushes the group to an alternative location. Once the boat moors, you have an hour and a half in the water on your own terms—no guided tour, no timed stops, just you and the Mediterranean.
The seabed around Revellata is shallow enough to see clearly. Wrasse, sar and other small fish move through the rocks and sand. You can swim in any direction from the boat, and many people paddle toward the cliffs themselves to haul out and look back at the bay. The water is cold enough that a wetsuit would help, but the operator does not mention one, so bring what you think you'll need or ask before you book. The 2.5-hour total includes the boat ride, the briefing and the time in the water.
Snorkeling equipment—mask, fins, snorkel—comes with the trip. Public transport runs near the meeting point, so you don't need a rental car to get there. The boat is small enough to moor close to the rocks, which is why Revellata works as a snorkeling site at all; larger tour boats have to stay farther out.
