Your instructor adapts to you, not the other way around.

A first diving baptism in the Gulf of Calvi for ages 8 and up, where you learn to breathe underwater in calm, shallow water with an instructor focused entirely on your confidence. You're equipped with a full wetsuit, mask, fins and SCUBA gear. The boat takes you to a site chosen for beginners, with maximum depth of 6 meters and abundant marine life. You receive a baptism certificate as a souvenir and proof of your first dive.

The experience

If you have a free afternoon and have never dived before, this is the entry point. You arrive at the meeting point, get fitted with a wetsuit, mask, fins and the breathing equipment, and spend time on land learning how the gear works and what to expect once you're in the water. The instructor explains the dive plan and answers questions. There's no rush. Then you board the boat and head out to one of several sites in the gulf chosen specifically for beginners: calm conditions, shallow depth, and the kind of seabed that holds your attention.

At 6 meters down, you're not deep enough to feel pressure, and the water stays clear enough to see. Your instructor stays with you the entire time, watching your breathing, your hand signals, your comfort level. The point is not to cover distance or hit a checklist. It's to let you feel weightlessness and notice what lives down there. You'll see the underwater landscape at a pace that lets you take it in. When the dive is over, you surface, return to the boat, and get handed a baptism certificate: a real document you keep, not a souvenir card. It certifies that you've completed your first dive and can use it if you decide to dive again elsewhere.

The whole experience runs about two and a half hours from start to finish, which means you can fit it into a morning or an afternoon without losing the rest of your day in Calvi. If you want to capture the moment, you can rent a GoPro camera on the day. You'll need to bring your own memory card.
