The experience

The day starts at 9:00 am at Reims Centre train station. You'll ride an electric bike (heavier than a standard one, so confident cycling matters) through the remote corners of the Champagne region, pedaling past Premier and Grand Cru villages and the UNESCO-listed vineyards that define the landscape. The route takes you to Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne itself, where you'll see the church holding Dom Pérignon's burial site. The e-bike motor handles the hills. You handle the pace and the views.

After the ride, the tour moves underground. You'll descend into a champagne estate cellar (bring a jacket, as it stays around 10°C year-round) for a guided tour of the production process. Then comes the tasting: two champagnes, one red wine, and one Ratafia, a local aperitif. The cellar tasting flows into a traditional French lunch featuring cheese puffs, paté-croûte, quiche, and Reims pink biscuit. Dietary needs are accommodated. You're back at the station by 4:00 pm.

The tour runs as a small group, maximum eight people, with one English-speaking guide. An air-conditioned vehicle is included for any segments that aren't on the bike. If weather turns (heavy rain, black ice), the operator adjusts the route or switches to a minivan ride instead. A minimum of two participants is required.
