A Finnish sauna sits on an island most visitors never reach.

The Redrib Archipelago Experience is a three-hour RIB-boat tour departing from Kanavaranta 4 in central Helsinki, heading east into the archipelago to visit a remote island with wild nature, a traditional Finnish sauna, and a return route that runs the outer passage at speed. The tour includes a picnic lunch, all protective equipment, and a live guide in English, Swedish or Finnish. Children are welcome from age 6, and you can bring your own bathing suit to use the sauna.

The experience

The boat leaves from the Redrib Hub at Kanavaranta 4, right in the city, so there's no need to arrange transport to a distant marina. You head east into the archipelago, passing city sights on the way out before reaching one of the 30,000-plus islands that dot this stretch of coast. The route depends on weather, but the aim is to land on an island where you step into wild nature: forest, rocky shores, the quiet that comes with distance from the city.

Once there, you get a glimpse of how people actually live in the archipelago: summer cottages, the rhythm of the season, the landscape that shapes it. A light outdoor picnic lunch is included. The sauna is real, a traditional Finnish one, and you can choose to look or to strip down and try it yourself if you've brought a bathing suit and towel. The whole body suits, jackets, life vests and speed goggles are all provided, so you show up and step aboard.

The return follows the outer route when weather allows, and that's when the RIB-boat does what it's built for: speed across open water. A live guide travels with you in English, Swedish or Finnish, narrating the route and the islands as you go. The whole outing runs three hours from departure to return.

What’s included

Is this one for you?Departing from Kanavaranta 4 in the city center, this tour works for anyone staying in Helsinki without a car: no drive to a distant port, just a walk to the hub. The RIB-boat speed and the outer-route return are what make the three-hour window feel full. If you want a slower, more contemplative island visit, look for a different operator.
