The experience
You meet your guide at the ice track, get fitted with skates (hockey or figure), helmet and balaclava if needed, then receive a briefing on ice conditions and technique before stepping onto the frozen surface. The guide covers track rules and skating fundamentals for beginners, then you're free to skate at your own pace for roughly 1.5 hours on the ice. If balance is a concern, kicksleds and skate-helper aids are available to steady you as you move.
The lake itself is the draw here. You're not in an arena or an indoor rink, but on actual ice surrounded by Lapland's quiet wilderness. Beginners and experienced skaters both work with the same guide, so the pace is yours to set. Children from age 4 can join. Younger kids can ride in a stroller or sit with an adult if they're not skating yet.
Two booking options exist: rental of skates and equipment only, or a full package that adds hotel pickup and transfer to and from the lake. The transfer option is useful if you don't have a car or prefer not to drive to the remote location. Either way, all gear stays included.

What's the difference between the rental-only option and the one with transfer?

How long do I actually spend on the ice?
