The experience
Five hours gives you time to fish, eat, and explore without eating up the whole day. You'll start at a private pond where the guide sets you up to catch rainbow trout through a hole in the ice. What you catch gets turned into trout soup on the spot, served warm with dessert and coffee. The meal comes from the water you just fished. After lunch, you move into snowshoeing through the surrounding forest. The terrain is gentle enough for all fitness levels. Kids get a sledding hill while adults explore further or take a second round on snowshoes.
Pickup happens from Kemi, Tornio, or any location you name, and the 45-minute drive to the pond is included. Your guide speaks English and stays with the group the whole time. Dress in layers. The cold is real, but the pond is sheltered and the activity keeps you moving. Infants and toddlers can come along in a pram or stroller, and service animals are welcome.
