The experience

You start with snowshoeing across the snow, then move to ice fishing on a frozen lake using professional equipment the guide provides. The fishing is the core of the morning or afternoon. You drill through the ice and wait for a catch while the guide explains the technique and the Arctic environment. After fishing, you change into a survival floating suit and enter the water for guided ice floating, an activity that takes the Arctic experience into the water itself.

Between activities, the group gathers at a campfire for a hot meal: grilled salmon, bread, marshmallows toasted over the fire, and hot blueberry juice. Vegetarian and vegan alternatives are available if you request them when booking. Winter clothes (an overall, boots and gloves) are provided, so you arrive in regular clothes and the operator outfits you for the cold. Hotel pickup and drop-off from Rovaniemi city center are included. The exact departure time comes by email from the local provider, and you should be ready in your hotel lobby 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
