Float in Frozen Lake Aurora Borealis: Rovaniemi Northern Lights
Watch the Northern Lights from inside a frozen lake instead of standing on the shore
Float in a warm survival suit on a frozen lake in Rovaniemi while watching the Northern Lights, guided in English. You drift in the icy water dressed head to toe in protective gear, staying warm no matter the outside temperature, and finish with gingerbread and hot blueberry juice. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon dependent on weather and solar activity, so sightings are never guaranteed.

The experience
Floating in a frozen Lapland lake is the setup that makes this different from any other way to chase the Northern Lights. You wear a full survival suit that keeps you warm and dry while you drift in the water, turning what sounds like an ordeal into something genuinely relaxing. The guide stays with you in English (French, Italian, Spanish and Chinese available on request) and handles the logistics. You just float, watch, and let the sky do its work.
The experience runs about two and a half hours from pickup to drop-off. You'll be collected from your hotel, suited up at the lake, and then spend the core time in the water waiting for the lights. If conditions cooperate (clear skies and active solar wind), you'll see them from a vantage point most visitors never reach. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so there's no guarantee on any given night, but the floating itself is the draw. The lights are the bonus.
Gingerbread and hot blueberry juice come at the end, a small warmth after time in the cold. Children as young as two can join if accompanied by a paying adult, though anyone floating in the suit must be at least 130cm tall to fit properly. Pickup time varies by season and availability, so the local provider will email you the exact hour once you've booked.

Is this one for you?You float in the water yourself while a guide stays with you. This is not a spectator activity or a guided walk on shore. It suits anyone who wants to experience the Northern Lights from an unusual angle and doesn't mind being in the water, dressed in a protective suit, for the core of the evening.
