The Crown Jewels sit in a separate exhibition space, and this is where the crowds compress. The collection holds 23,578 gems—the Imperial State Crown alone carries 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and 5 rubies—and these are not replicas. They are the actual regalia used by the King in ceremonies like the state opening of parliament.
