The Experience

The tour starts at New College, where you spend roughly 30 minutes inside the medieval cloisters, quadrangle, chapel, dining hall and gardens — the actual film locations from Goblet of Fire. Your guide walks you through which scenes were shot in each space and explains how Oxford's architecture inspired JK Rowling's vision of Hogwarts. New College's entry fee is built into your booking.

From there, the route moves through Oxford's historic center, passing Trinity College (where Rowling applied but wasn't accepted), Balliol, All Souls, the Bridge of Sighs, Radcliffe Camera and the Oxford Covered Market. Your guide introduces each site and points out which ones appear in the films or connect to the books' backstory. The tour ends outside the Bodleian Library, where you can choose to pay £2.50 to enter the Divinity School film site if it's open that day.

The whole walk takes about 90 minutes. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of three other languages. The route is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels; if you're driving, plan to arrive about an hour early to use one of Oxford's park-and-ride lots on the edge of town, since parking in the center is scarce and the roads are congested.
