Oxford Harry Potter tour: Divinity School entry included
Walk the Harry Potter film locations while learning why Oxford inspired the books
This Oxford walking tour takes you inside the Divinity School at the Bodleian Library, where scenes from the Harry Potter films were shot, and past the colleges, churches and streets that shaped the stories. The guide introduces the university's real history and the writers who studied there, weaving film locations with Oxford heritage across 90 to 120 minutes. Entry to the Divinity School is included; on dates when it closes, the tour visits New College instead (at an extra cost).

The Experience
You'll meet your guide at the start and walk through central Oxford, passing the Radcliffe Camera, Bridge of Sighs, Sheldonian Theatre and multiple colleges—each one introduced with stories about student life and the writers connected to them. The route takes in Trinity College, Balliol College, All Souls College and others, stopping briefly at each to set the scene. You'll also pass the alleyway that inspired Knockturn Alley and the pub known as Oxford's Three Broomsticks, where Robbie Coltrane and the cast drank while filming.
The centerpiece is entry inside the Divinity School at the Bodleian Library, the infirmary and classroom space used in the films. You'll see the medieval interior that appeared on screen, though the tour does not include access to Duke Humfrey's Library itself (that requires separate tickets and is restricted to ages 12 and up). Along the way, you'll visit the Oxford Covered Market to spot the Hogwarts cakes, and learn about literary figures—J.K. Rowling applied to study at Oxford, and the tour points out the colleges connected to her and to Tolkien.
The tour runs 90 to 120 minutes and is wheelchair accessible. Arrive 5 minutes early at the meeting point. If the Divinity School is closed on your date, the tour visits New College instead, with entry at an additional £10 per person. Refunds or rescheduling are available with at least 24 hours' notice.
