The experience

The tour departs Manchester and heads into North Wales, stopping first in Conwy, a seaside town built around a medieval fortress. You'll have time to walk the town walls, explore Conwy Castle or wander down to the harbour and the shops and cafes along the waterfront. From there the route climbs into Snowdonia National Park, crossing a mountain road with a stop at Llyn Ogwen, a lake ringed by peaks and rumoured to be where King Arthur's sword Excalibur came to rest.

Betws-y-Coed sits in the heart of the National Park and was once a pilgrimage site before it became a haven for artists and writers drawn by the surrounding landscape. You'll have free time to explore the village before the tour moves on to Caernarfon Castle, the medieval fortress that stands at the heart of the day. Entry is included, and you'll have time to walk its towering walls and learn how it shaped Welsh history. The driver-guide provides live commentary throughout, and a multilingual audio guide is available on the coach. Bring your own headphones if you want to use it.

The tour runs for 10 hours and travels in an air-conditioned vehicle. Service animals are welcome, and the itinerary suits all fitness levels, though the pace is set by the group and the stops are fixed.
