The experience
The show opens with the Sphinx lit against the night sky, its voice guiding you through a thousand years of ancient Egypt. As the light moves across the three main pyramids (Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinus), the narration weaves together the engineering feats, the pharaohs who commissioned them and the lives of the workers who built them. The one-hour performance moves through the Old Kingdom and into later dynasties, naming the rulers and their achievements as the monuments themselves become part of the storytelling.
Your hotel pickup happens in the early evening: 6pm in winter or 7pm in summer if you're staying in Giza. 5:30pm or 6:30pm from Cairo hotels, and you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with bottled water provided. Is there a guide with me during the show, or do I watch on my own?
The show itself is narrated by a recorded soundtrack available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and one additional language. Your driver escorts you to the venue and back to your hotel, but the performance is a fixed show rather than a guided tour.
