Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple in Aswan: Egyptian myths brought to life
Ancient myths told in light and sound at a temple moved stone by stone
The sound and light show at Philae Temple in Aswan is an evening tour with hotel pickup that uses narration, lighting and multimedia to tell the stories of Goddess Isis and God Osiris. The temple itself was relocated stone by stone in the 1960s after centuries of seasonal flooding, and the show reveals its form and majesty through the restored site. Entry, transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle and a live guide in your choice of language are included; the whole evening runs about two hours.
Step-by-step itinerary

The Experience
Hotel pickup at 6pm starts the evening. A private air-conditioned vehicle brings you to Philae Temple, where the sound and light show unfolds across the ancient stones. The narration walks you through the legends of Goddess Isis and God Osiris—the myths that shaped this site for millennia. Multimedia projections and dramatic lighting reveal the temple's form and majesty as you move through it, turning the restored structure into the stage for its own history.
The temple's story shapes what you see. For centuries, Philae flooded for six months each year, until an incredible restoration program in the 1960s moved the entire temple stone by stone to higher ground. The show uses that restored site to tell you what it means—the gods, the pharaohs, the rituals that once filled these spaces. The lights and sound are the vehicle; the narration is what makes it land.
After the show ends, the vehicle returns you to your hotel. A live guide in English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of two other languages narrates throughout, so the myths reach you in the words you understand.
