The experience
The cruise departs Aswan after you board at midday on day one. A representative meets you at your hotel, airport or railway station and transfers you to the ship before lunch. After eating on board, you take a motorboat to Philae Temple, the Greco-Roman sanctuary on Aglika Island that was relocated stone by stone to save it from the High Dam's waters. The evening brings a folkloric show and dinner as the ship stays overnight in Aswan.
Day two is mostly sailing. After breakfast, you have free time on the sundeck with tea service, then lunch on board. The ship sails nearly three hours to Kom Ombo, where you visit the temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus: built in 180 BC on the riverbank and notable for standing between Aswan and Edfu. Dinner and a galabia party happen on board as you sail to Edfu for the night.
On day three, you arrive in Luxor by late afternoon. Depending on arrival time, you visit Karnak temples (a sprawling complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks built for the Theban gods), and Luxor Temple, largely constructed by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and completed by Tutankhamun and Ramses II. The ship stays overnight in Luxor with dinner on board.
The final morning includes breakfast, then a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon: two 60-foot quartzite statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III carved from stone quarried near Cairo and transported 420 miles overland. You then visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, rising in terraces from the desert floor, and finish at the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs including Ramesses III and VI were entombed. The tour ends around noon with transfer to Luxor airport, railway station or your hotel. Lunch on the final day is not included.

What's included in the meals on the Nile cruise?
The cruise operates on a full-board basis, meaning breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on board each of the three nights you sleep on the ship. Depending on your option, water and drinks during meals may vary, and WiFi on the ship is optional.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the ship in Aswan?
No. Meet-and-greet service and all transfers are included. A representative picks you up from your hotel, Aswan airport or railway station and takes you to the ship, then transfers you from Luxor back to your hotel, airport or station at the end.
What is Philae Temple and why was it moved?
Philae Temple is a Greco-Roman sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis, built during the Ptolemaic Dynasty and one of the last places where ancient Egyptian religion survived after Christianity arrived. The Valley of the Kings holds the tombs of multiple pharaohs. You'll see the resting places of Merneptah, Ramesses III and Ramesses VI, among the most remarkable Egyptian kings buried in stone sarcophagi in this majestic domain.
Are entrance fees to the temples included in the price?
Entrance fees to the historical sites are not included in the tour price and are paid separately at each location.
