The Experience

The day starts before dawn with pickup from your Marsa Alam hotel and a drive south to Hamata Marina. After a welcome drink, the boat sets sail for Satayh Reef — a two-hour crossing that gives you time to settle in and meet the guide. The reef sits in a protected lagoon with clear water, and it is where a large school of spinner dolphins makes its home. You'll make two separate snorkeling stops here, entering the water at spots where the dolphins are known to gather and move through the reef.

In the water, you'll see the dolphins moving in groups, and there's a genuine chance to be near them as they feed and play — this is not a guarantee of interaction, but the reef's reputation draws them consistently. The area is also full of other Red Sea fish and coral species found nowhere else, so the reef itself rewards close attention even when the dolphins move through deeper water. Between snorkel stops, you'll have time to rest on the boat and dry off.

Lunch is prepared onboard by the chef — a full meal with snacks and drinks provided throughout the day. The boat departs Hamata Marina around 4:30 pm for the return journey, and you're back at your hotel by evening. The whole outing runs about 8 hours from pickup to drop-off.
