The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Marsa Alam hotel by Toyota Land Cruiser, heading to The Camel Yard in Port Ghalib where your guide briefs you on the day ahead. You'll spend 30 minutes on a quad bike cutting through desert trails and sandy terrain, then move to a traditional camel ride where you experience the landscape the way Bedouins do. The real scale of the desert opens up on the drive inland: roughly 22 kilometers through the Eastern Desert by 4WD, with stops at an Acacia tree and a panoramic viewpoint from a hilltop that frames the whole landscape.

At the Bedouin village, you're welcomed with herbal tea while guides walk you through how people actually live out here: the huts, the traditional bread baking happening in real time, the handmade crafts. You'll watch the sunset from a mountain viewpoint, then return to The Camel Yard for an open buffet dinner with unlimited hibiscus juice. The evening wraps with a belly dance show, a Tanura performance, and a stargazing session under the clear desert sky, far enough from city lights that the stars are genuinely visible.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 11 years); Infant (under 5).

How much time do I actually spend on a quad bike?

The quad bike ride lasts 30 minutes through the desert trails. It's the first activity after your safety briefing at The Camel Yard, so you'll be fresh and the terrain is sandy rather than rocky.

What happens at the Bedouin village? Is it a real place or a tourist setup?

The Bedouin village is an authentic settlement where you'll see traditional bread baking, explore the huts, and learn about daily life in the Eastern Desert. You're welcomed with herbal tea and have time to watch the crafts and routines that make up village life.

Do I need to be an experienced rider for the camel and quad bike?

No experience is required for either activity. The camel ride is a traditional experience at a walking pace, and the quad bike route is designed for all fitness levels. Your guide will give you a safety briefing before you start.

What's included in the dinner at The Camel Yard?

Dinner is an open buffet with unlimited hibiscus juice included. After you eat, you'll watch a belly dance show and a Tanura performance, then move outside for stargazing.

When does the tour end and how do I get back to my hotel?

The tour runs seven hours total, ending after the stargazing session. Your driver will return you to your Marsa Alam hotel as part of the included pickup and drop-off service.

What should I bring or wear for a desert evening?

Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes for the quad bike and camel ride. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses for the afternoon activities. The desert cools down after sunset, so a light layer helps during dinner and stargazing. The tour provides two bottles of mineral water.
