The Experience

"When do we board?" The question comes up before you've even left Cairo. That's because the itinerary moves fast — hotel pickup in the morning, flight to Luxor by midday, and you're walking into Karnak Temple before dinner. The 5-day Nile cruise from Cairo handles the logistics so you don't have to: flights are included, your guide meets you at the airport, and the ship becomes your base for four nights while you move through Upper Egypt's most important sites. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner happen on board, so you're eating while the river slides past the windows.

Day two starts early. At 8 a.m. your guide is waiting to take you across to the West Bank — the Valley of the Kings first, where you walk into royal tombs carved into limestone cliffs, then the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at El Deir El Bahari, which rises in three terraces from the desert floor. The Colossi of Memnon, two massive sitting statues facing the Nile, come next. You're back on the ship by lunch. The cruise sails south to Edfu while you rest, and the next morning brings the Temple of Horus, then Kom Ombo, where a single temple was shared between two gods. Each stop has a professional guide who knows the dynasties and the stories — not just the names of the places.

Aswan is the final stop. The High Dam, built in 1964, creates Lake Nasser behind it, and from the top you can see the water stretching south toward Sudan. But the real draw is Philae Temple, on an island that spends most of the year underwater. The Temple of Isis and its monuments were built over centuries, from the 26th dynasty into the Roman period, and the island itself — Agilkia — is where they moved the whole complex to save it from flooding. You take a boat out, walk through the pylons and colonnades, and the scale of what the ancients built sinks in. After that, it's back to the ship for your last dinner, then the flight home to Cairo the next morning.

Skip-the-line access means you don't spend half the day in queues at Karnak or the Valley of the Kings. The ship handles accommodation, meals, and the rhythm of the days — you show up, the guide leads, and the boat carries you forward. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Cairo bookend the whole thing, so you're not figuring out transport on either end.

What’s included

Your package includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Cairo by air-conditioned minibus, round-trip flights from Cairo to Luxor and from Aswan back to Cairo, four nights' accommodation on a 5-star Nile cruise ship, all meals on board (breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, and snacks), entry to the Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Horus in Edfu, Temple of Kom Ombo, and Philae Temple in Aswan, skip-the-line access at major sites, a professional art historian guide for all excursions, and all taxes and charges.
