The experience

Twelve to fourteen hours gives you time to move through four major sites without rushing. The Valley of the Kings opens first: tombs carved deep into desert rock and filled with treasures meant for the pharaohs' afterlife (the Tutankhamen tomb is not included in this tour). From there you move to the Temple of Hatshepsut, the mortuary temple of the queen who ruled Egypt as its most powerful woman, then stand before the Colossi of Memnon, two colossal statues of Amenhotep III that have watched the Nile for millennia.

Karnak Temple closes the day: the largest place of worship ever built, a sprawling complex dedicated to Amun-Ra and constructed over more than 2,000 years. A private Egyptologist guide who speaks English walks you through each site and explains what you're standing in front of. The vehicle stays air-conditioned between stops, and mineral water is on board throughout the day. Lunch happens at a local restaurant partway through.

Pickup and return both happen at the cruise exit door at Safaga Port, so you don't arrange separate transport to meet the tour. All entrance fees, service charges and taxes are already included in the price.
