The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Hurghada hotel and a drive to Luxor. You'll spend the morning and afternoon moving through four major sites with a guide who speaks English, Italian, German or Russian. The Valley of the Kings comes first: a dry, narrow tract where royal tombs cut into the rock, including the burial chamber of Tutankhamun. From there you move to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a colonnaded structure built for one of Egypt's most extraordinary leaders, then to the Colossi of Memnon, two seated statues carved during the 18th Dynasty that stand 3,400 years old. The Temple of Karnak, an immense pillared complex filled with relics the ancient Egyptians considered sacred, closes the archaeological stops.
