The experience

The tour leaves your hotel at 11 p.m., giving you the night to travel by air-conditioned bus through the Arava Valley to the Dead Sea. Floating, not swimming, in water 400 meters below sea level is the physical anchor of the day: the mineral content is so high that your body stays buoyant without effort. You'll have time to shop for Dead Sea salts, mud, and skincare products before heading inland toward Jerusalem.

The drive climbs through the Judean Desert past Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and Jericho, where you may spot Bedouin encampments along the road. Arriving in Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives gives you a panoramic introduction to the city before you descend into its quarters. You'll see the Western Wall, the last remnant of the Jewish Temple, walk the Way of Suffering through the Old City, and reach the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where Christian tradition places the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. A detour to Bethlehem includes the Church of the Nativity (the birthplace of Jesus and a central pilgrimage site) plus a Middle Eastern meal with a free drink and time to browse souvenir shops.

Pickup from your hotel and return are included, as are your Israeli visa and Taba border tax. The guide speaks Russian on the standard departure. English-language tours run on a separate schedule. The full day ends with your return to the Taba Border and transfer back to Dahab.

Top questions

How does floating in the Dead Sea actually work if I'm not a strong swimmer?

The Dead Sea's mineral content is so dense that your body floats naturally without any effort or swimming ability required. You simply lie back and stay buoyant. The water holds you up.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to arrange myself?

Hotel pickup and return, your Israeli visa, the Taba border tax, all bus transfers, a Middle Eastern meal with a free drink, and a Russian or English-speaking guide are all included. You don't arrange the border crossing or transportation yourself.

Is there time to actually swim and spend time at the Dead Sea, or is it just a quick stop?

The itinerary includes time to float, shop for Dead Sea products, and explore the natural beauty of the area, though the exact duration depends on the group's pace and the overall day's schedule.

What's the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, and why is it on this tour?

The Church of the Nativity marks the birthplace of Jesus and is the central pilgrimage destination for Christians worldwide. It's a major stop on this tour because of its religious and historical significance to the holy sites you're visiting.

Do I need a passport, and how does the visa work if I'm traveling from Egypt?

Yes, you need a valid passport. Your Israeli visa is arranged and included in the tour price. The operator handles it as part of the booking. The Taba Border crossing tax is also covered.

What time do I get back to Dahab, and is the schedule flexible if I want to spend more time in Jerusalem?

The tour returns the same evening after visiting all sites and crossing back through Taba. The itinerary is set. This is a full-day loop rather than an overnight stay, so additional time in Jerusalem would require a separate booking.
