The experience
You leave your Dahab hotel in the morning for a drive to Sharm Airport, then fly to Luxor where your guide meets you at the airport. An Egyptologist with academic qualifications accompanies you for the entire day, moving through the sites by private vehicle. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language, depending on your choice at booking.
The West Bank comes first. You descend into the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs including Tutankhamun, Ramesses VI, and Amenhotep II were buried. The tombs themselves are the architecture: carved deep into the rock with painted walls and burial chambers that have survived millennia. Next is the Temple of Hatshepsut, built by the only female pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt, dedicated to the god Amon-Re. You also see the Colossi of Memnon, the remaining statues from an earlier temple of Amenophis III.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you cross to the East Bank to explore Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex in Egypt. The site sprawls across acres with towering columns, a grand hypostyle hall, and structures dedicated to the god Amon and his family. Your guide explains the religious significance and architectural ambition behind each section. Then you visit Luxor Temple before heading back to Luxor Airport for your flight to Sharm El Sheikh, where a private transfer waits to take you back to your hotel in Dahab.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 11 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What exactly is inside the Valley of the Kings that I'll see?
The Valley of the Kings holds royal tombs carved into rock cliffs, with painted burial chambers and passages leading deep underground. You enter several tombs to see the painted walls and chambers where pharaohs were buried, including the tomb of Tutankhamun. The tombs themselves are the main attraction: the rock-cut architecture and surviving artwork inside them.
How much walking and climbing is involved in this tour?
The tour requires a moderate level of physical fitness. You walk through temple grounds and descend into tomb chambers, some of which involve stairs and uneven surfaces. The Valley of the Kings involves walking between tombs and climbing in and out of the burial chambers. Wheelchair accessibility is available for some areas, though not all tomb interiors are accessible.
Is the flight time included in the 6 to 7 hours, or is that just the ground tour?
The 6 to 7 hour duration covers the ground tour in Luxor: the sites, the guide, and the transport between them. The flights from Sharm Airport to Luxor and back are included in the package but happen outside that timeframe, so plan for an earlier departure from your hotel and a later return.
What's the difference between Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple?
Karnak Temple is a sprawling complex dedicated to the god Amon with multiple structures, towering columns, and a grand hypostyle hall. It's the largest temple site you'll visit. Luxor Temple is a separate, more compact temple also on the East Bank. Both are included in the tour, and your guide explains the religious purpose and history of each.
Does the price include drinks and tips for the guide?
Lunch is included, but drinks are not. Gratuities for the guide are also not included in the tour price, though tipping is customary if you're satisfied with the service.
